HOWL the DEMONIC CURSE
Synopsis
by John F. Dillon
In a fit of rage upon learning her son, Liam is leaving Ireland for America; an Irish Mother spews a curse upon her son and his off-spring.
The curse is all but forgotten as Liam achieves a measure of success in his adopted home land. It resurfaces after a tragic Christmas Eve accident that leaves a young child without a mother and a badly disoriented father in the hospital.
Upon hearing Liam’s ranting, an unscrupulous social worker recognizes an opportunity to make money, and proposes to secret Liam’s young child Gary from the curse. The boy is sent to a Catholic orphanage in upstate New York where he is befriended by a Catholic nun.
Years pass until the boy is released from the orphanage and finds his way to the streets of lower Manhattan. Eventually, he escapes the lawlessness of his environment by joining the Navy. It is while he is in the Navy; he meets the girl he is to marry.
Success and heartache follow his return to civilian life. Working to support his wife and baby boy while attending night school, he does not realize his wife is slipping into a delusional world. An accident to his young child, an incident following business dinner, and a court ruling leaves Gary once again alone and leads to a conclusion that invokes questions regarding the power of a mother’s curse.
